I suck at prioritization.

I will often put the easy thing ahead of the important thing. I’m absolutely excellent at procrastinating. Today was mine and my husband’s first wedding anniversary, and I spent a frazzled 30 minutes on the couch making him a card because I’d put it off all week. I’m really not great at planning.

But I’m also an adult and I know that doing the easy thing isn’t going to get me very far so I’ll suck it up and get my shit together. So here’s where we’re at. We’ve got three Big Ones, and I have to figure out where to start.

First up: A full apartment refresh.

This seemed logical because I’m home right now, so why not take advantage of the extra time saved not commuting? It’s also getting warm enough to do some bigger projects outside (like, real, genuine projects… I’m talking wood and tools and all that mess). Over the next couple of days, I’m going to take some time to write down all of the things I want to do with the apartment and then further prioritize when and how I’ll get them done. We’ll see how long this sticks.

None of this is to say I won’t be working on the other two. Career changes are mostly on hold due to a very shaky economy, and creative projects are ongoing things. Both can be considered and dipped into along the way.

For now, though, I want to put my focus on one thing. So let’s see what we can do to make this shitty, decades old apartment a bit more lovely.
